The Australia 2027 apparel production calendar sets out four buying windows and the order-by date behind each one. School uniforms for Term 1 2027: order by mid-Oct to mid-Nov 2026. Autumn and winter collections: Dec 2026 – Feb 2027. Corporate uniform renewals for the EOFY: Feb – Apr 2027. Christmas and summer retail: Jul – early Aug 2027.
Each date works backwards from the day stock needs to be in your warehouse, through bulk production, sampling and sea freight. This page shows the clock behind every window, the Australian dates that drive it, and what fits inside each order window on our lines.
What is the 2027 apparel production calendar?
| Window | Stock in market by | Order by |
|---|---|---|
| School uniforms for Term 1 2027 | 27 January to 10 February 2027, state by state | mid-Oct to mid-Nov 2026 |
| Autumn and winter collections | March to May 2027 | Dec 2026 – Feb 2027 |
| Corporate uniform renewals for EOFY | 30 June 2027 | Feb – Apr 2027 |
| Christmas and summer retail | Shelf by mid-November 2027 | Jul – early Aug 2027 |
An order placed early in its window fits the full production clock with room for a sampling round. Orders at the back edge of a window are committed to the fastest clock, and should confirm timing at the quote stage. A missed window rolls to the next one, unless air freight makes up the weeks at a much higher cost.
How does an apparel order clock work backwards from the shelf?
Production orders are planned from the deadline, not the start date. Working back from the day stock must be in your warehouse, the clock runs in three stages.
Sea freight and clearance. Port to port, sea freight from Indonesia to Australia’s east coast runs 1.5 to 3 weeks. Door to door, including customs clearance and final delivery, allow 3 to 4 weeks. These are planning references for the Jakarta and Surabaya lanes.
Bulk production. Woven programmes run 6 to 12 weeks from cut to packed cartons at our lines. Fabric sourcing for stock qualities sits inside that window.
Sampling. Each sampling round takes 1 to 2 weeks. Plan one round on a proven spec, two on a new style.
Added together, the clock runs roughly 10 to 18 weeks from confirmed order to warehouse door. That range is why every window below closes months before the season it serves. Programmes with custom fabric development add weeks to this clock; the windows on this page assume stock qualities.
When should you order school uniforms for Term 1 2027?
Order by mid-Oct to mid-Nov 2026. The window gives a uniform programme the full clock, sampling through bulk to sea freight, ahead of the 27 January to 10 February 2027 return dates. This window opens in mid-October 2026, which makes it the next one on the calendar.
Australian state schools return across a three-week spread, and the dates are published by each education department:
| State or territory | Term 1 2027 begins |
|---|---|
| Queensland | Wednesday 27 January |
| South Australia | Wednesday 27 January |
| Northern Territory | Wednesday 27 January |
| Victoria | Thursday 28 January |
| Western Australia | Monday 1 February |
| Australian Capital Territory | Monday 1 February |
| New South Wales | Wednesday 3 February (Western division 10 February) |
| Tasmania | Thursday 4 February |
Schools opening in late January sit at the tight end of the clock, so those programmes belong at the start of the order window. States returning in February fit comfortably inside it.
For a Queensland school opening on 27 January 2027, goods need to clear customs and deliver by mid-January, which means sailing by mid-December. On an eight-week bulk run, production runs October to December after a sampling round in October. That arithmetic is the mid-Oct to mid-Nov 2026 order window. Schools opening in late January should order at the window’s start and confirm bulk weeks at the quote stage.
The window serves school uniform shops, parent committees building a uniform programme, and resellers carrying stock through the back-to-school peak. The fabric mix follows the uniform: woven shirting and blouses for formal days, knit polos and knitwear where the uniform calls for them, shorts and trousers in woven twills. The full programme anatomy sits on our school uniform manufacturer page.
When should Australian labels order autumn and winter wovens?
Order Dec 2026 – Feb 2027 for a March to May 2027 drop. The window belongs to boutique and womenswear labels building autumn ranges in woven cloth: shirting, poplin, twill, rayon, crepe and challis.
An order placed in December gets the longest runway inside the window. February orders need the faster end of the production clock, so they serve the April and May end of the drop. A label still deciding in February should narrow to fewer styles and lock the specification quickly. A first capsule can be tested at smaller quantities: Kizen Lab’s woven winter collection lane runs 500-piece-per-style FOB capsules on the same campus.
When should corporate uniform programmes order for EOFY renewals?
Order Feb – Apr 2027 and the renewed programme is in service by 30 June 2027, the end of the Australian financial year. Uniform renewals are budgeted around that date, and a July staff intake makes the new financial year the natural handover point for a refreshed programme. Programmes ordering in April need the fastest clock confirmed at the quote stage; March orders carry the buffer. The desk-side version of this window sits on the EOFY corporate uniform renewal clock.
This window is business to business. It serves the programme managers, HR and operations teams who run recurring uniform contracts, where the same styles repeat and the standard has to hold order after order. Our guide to corporate and office uniform manufacturing in Indonesia covers how repeating programmes keep that standard.
When should retailers order Christmas and summer woven stock?
Order Jul – early Aug 2027 for stock on the shelf by mid-November 2027. The mid-November date is planning guidance: it gives your range selling weeks before the November Christmas shipping cut-offs carriers publish each year, and before the December peak. The window runs on summer-weight wovens: rayon, viscose and crepe pieces for the holiday season and the January trading weeks. The woven fabric guide for Australian summer explains how the three cloths behave and which garments each suits.
As with every window, the order date is the one thing you control. July orders absorb the whole clock with room to spare; early August orders are already committed to the faster end of it.
Why do Australian buyers order apparel production from Indonesia?
Duty. Under the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, Indonesian garments enter Australia duty free. The zero rating applies to qualifying shipments that carry the agreement’s Certificate of Origin, issued through Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade, with fabric origin measured by a 10 percent weight-or-value rule. The paperwork and the buying economics are set out in full in our guide to clothing manufacturing for Australian brands.
Lane time. Sea freight from Jakarta or Surabaya to Australia’s east coast runs 1.5 to 3 weeks port to port, and 3 to 4 weeks door to door. That lane time is why the order dates on this page sit so far ahead of the seasons they serve.
Direction. As a market reference: trade data for 2025-26 shows Indonesian apparel exports to Australia growing about 14.5 percent while total Australian apparel imports fell 3.3 percent. Indonesian share of Australia’s apparel imports is growing while the total market shrinks, which is the context behind longer-term programme planning.
What labelling rules apply to clothing imported into Australia?
Care labelling is mandatory. Clothing sold in Australia must carry care instructions meeting the Consumer Goods (Care Labelling) Information Standard 2023, based on AS/NZS 1957. Instructions appear in English, in the five international care symbols, or both. Specify the care label before bulk production so it is applied at the sewing line rather than retrofitted.
Origin labelling at the border. Clothing imported into Australia must carry a country-of-origin label under the Commerce (Trade Descriptions) Act 1905; any further origin claim a business chooses to make must be accurate.
Goods arrive clean. Apparel imports should arrive clean and free of contamination.
What MOQs and lead times fit this calendar?
Our woven lines run programmes from 1,000 pieces per style, and from 1,500 pieces per style where the programme includes custom fabric development. Capacity stands at 200,000 pieces per month, with bulk lead times of 6 to 12 weeks and sampling at 1 to 2 weeks per round. The factory has produced more than 5 million pieces since 2000, runs digital pattern-making on Lectra systems, and employs nearly 1,000 people.
A first programme can be tested before that scale. Kizen Lab, our sister company on the same campus, produces FOB orders from 500 pieces per style, enough for a single-school pilot, a one-site corporate trial, or a first boutique range.
Useful next steps: how production slots are booked is on our factory capacity page, the logic behind minimums is in why clothing factories have minimum orders, and clothing manufacturer quotes is where pricing against your own spec starts.
Frequently asked questions
