Woven Clothing Manufacturer for US Brands

World KNK is a woven clothing manufacturer in Bandung, Indonesia, and US brands are the buyers we build programs for: shirts, blouses, dresses, denim, jackets, and uniforms, cut from woven cloth on a floor that has done nothing else since 2000. The working numbers are public, because a brand planning a US retail season needs them before the first call, not after: a minimum of 1,000 pieces per style, 40 working days from order to shipment, final inspection to AQL 2.5, with third-party inspectors welcome on the floor.

Everything below is the full picture, so you can plan the order instead of chasing the facts.

What does a woven clothing manufacturer make for US brands?

Woven is the only cloth this floor cuts. Shirts, blouses and dresses form the core of what US brands order from us, and the same cut-and-sew lines run denim, jackets, uniforms and religious fashion. The pattern room cuts to Lectra markers, and every style is checked on its way from fabric inspection to packed export cartons.

Knit programs are a separate discipline from this woven floor. If a line mixes tees with wovens, quote the wovens here and place the knits where they are made.

What are the minimums for a woven production order?

One list, and each activity carries its own floor:

  • Proto and fit samples: 1 piece, one size, to check the pattern and the make.
  • Sales samples: 1 piece per style, for shoot, buyers and market tests.
  • Bulk production: 1,000 pieces per style, up to 2 colors or motifs, split across your size run.
  • Custom fabric development: 1,500 pieces per style per color, subject to mill minimums, adding 4 to 8 weeks to the front of the program.
  • Repeat orders: no new minimum, 35 working days, and reorders skip the queue.

A style is one garment design: two colorways of the same shirt are one style, and their pieces count together toward the 1,000. That definition matters when you plan a six-style capsule across two colorways, because it is the design count, not the SKU count, that meets the minimum.

How long does woven production take?

Sampling runs one to two weeks per round, and plan for two rounds before bulk. From a locked purchase order, bulk production runs 40 working days to shipped export cartons, which is about eight calendar weeks; a repeat of a style the floor already knows runs 35 working days. Add sea freight on top: Indonesia to the United States runs 27–39 days port to port, and around eight weeks door to door once customs and inland delivery are included, so the date to protect is the sail date.

Added up on a holiday 2027 program: first contact in June, two sampling rounds through early July, the order locked by mid-July 2027, bulk production completing in September, containers sailing by mid-September, and stock clearing customs into the warehouse in early November, ahead of Black Friday on November 26. Those durations are why the US retail calendar reads the way it does: a woven program for the 2027 back-to-school season needs its order by April 2027, and the US woven apparel production calendar lays out the 2027 windows with the backwards math.

How do you know what comes back is what you ordered?

Fabric is the part of an overseas order a brand cannot watch from its own office. The counter is visibility at every stage, not trust. Fabric is sourced and tested before cutting on the FOB (full service) program, quality is checked at eight stages on the way from fabric inspection to packed export cartons, and final inspection runs to AQL 2.5. Your own third-party inspector from SGS, Intertek or QIMA is welcome on the floor at any point in the run. Bring one for the final, and bring one mid-run if the program is big enough to matter.

Which production model fits a US brand?

One model, agreed in writing before production starts: FOB (full service), and the buyer books the sea freight. Here is what happens inside the factory before the cartons are sealed:

  • FOB (full service). You bring the idea; we run tech packs, fabric sourcing and testing, production, QC and export packing. One team, one quote.

If you have no tech pack yet, start anyway: the in-house design team turns a photo, a sketch or a reference garment into a production-ready pattern and size pack, and the sample follows from there. The design fee is separate and does not come back; the sample fee does come off your bulk invoice.

Why order woven clothing from Indonesia?

Indonesia sits inside the top seven supplier countries to the US market, a group that ships 78 percent of US apparel imports according to the US Fashion Industry Association’s 2026 sourcing report. For a US brand, the practical case has four parts:

  • Woven depth. A floor of nearly 1,000 people that has made wovens since 2000, more than five million pieces to date, with capacity of 200,000 pieces per month and Lectra pattern-making.
  • Freight that fits the calendar. 27–39 days port to port to the US, planning around eight weeks door to door.
  • Duty you can price. Woven apparel classifies under HTS Chapter 62, garment by garment: woven cotton men’s trousers, for one, carry a 16.6 percent general rate. There is no US–Indonesia free trade agreement, and the American Apparel & Footwear Association reports US apparel imports faced an average effective tariff rate of 24.6 percent in 2025, so budget duty into the landed cost before you set retail prices.
  • Sampling before commitment. Proto and fit samples run at 1 piece and sales samples at 1 piece per style, and the sample fee comes off the bulk invoice when the order follows.

How does a US brand start the order?

Send the tech pack, or the photo if the tech pack does not exist yet. We quote against the minimums and durations on this page, samples run in one-to-two-week rounds, and the purchase order locks the production slot. Production capacity is a calendar: book the slot before sampling, not after, and if the season is tight, book the capacity conversation early.

Woven manufacturing for US brands: the quick answers

Is the 1,000-piece minimum from the factory or the fabric mill?

From the factory, and only for bulk: 1,000 pieces per style covers production on stock fabrics, with samples running at 1 piece per style. The fabric mill only enters when you want cloth developed to your own composition, which starts at 1,500 pieces per style per color and adds 4 to 8 weeks.

What can I order before committing to bulk?

Proto and fit samples at 1 piece, and sales samples at 1 piece per style. The sample fee comes off the bulk invoice when the order follows.

How do I know the fabric will be what I paid for?

Fabric is sourced and tested before cutting, quality is checked at eight production stages, and final inspection runs to AQL 2.5. Your own inspector from SGS, Intertek or QIMA is welcome at any stage of the run.

Can the factory work from a photo instead of a tech pack?

Yes. The design service turns a photo, a sketch or a reference garment into a production-ready pattern and size pack; the design fee is separate from production, and the sample fee still comes off the bulk invoice.

How far ahead should a US brand book woven production?

For 2027 seasons: back-to-school orders by April 2027, and holiday capsules by mid-July 2027 with samples approved by early August 2027. The full backwards math sits on the US production calendar.

What if a first season is too big at 1,000 pieces per style?

The Kizen Lab pilot lane runs 500 pieces per style, FOB, with four-to-six-week lead times, in the same city and backed by the same floor, and styles that sell scale up to World KNK production.
